I grew up in Central Europe, where the sauna is a weekly ritual rather than a wellness trend: hot rooms around 175–195 °F, water on the stones, a cold plunge afterwards, repeat. Back home I build saunas and small wooden buildings for a living.

I started Little Dwell because most English-language advice on saunas and small backyard buildings is either a thinly veiled sales page or a generic "top 10" list written by someone who has never sat on a sauna bench or assembled a shed kit.

How we research and rate

  • We compare specs that actually matter: heater output, room volume, wood and wall thickness, build quality, electrical and foundation requirements, warranty and real customer reviews.
  • Where we have hands-on experience, we say so – and we say so when we don't.
  • Nobody can buy a spot in our rankings. Affiliate commissions don't change the order.
  • We're not doctors. Health claims are kept conservative and linked to research where possible.
